The Incompetence that is Condi

Here is our winning issue, folks - if the DNC will pick up the ball and run with it that is. And if they don't we need to form a Progressive Party for America and challenge the legitimacy and stature of the Democratic Party. From Bob Woodward's new book, State of Denial:

... in the weeks before the Sept. 11 attacks, Mr. Tenet believed that Mr. Rumsfeld was impeding the effort to develop a coherent strategy to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. Mr. Rumsfeld questioned the electronic signals from terrorism suspects that the National Security Agency had been intercepting, wondering whether they might be part of an elaborate deception plan by Al Qaeda.

On July 10, 2001, (two full months before the terrorist attacks of September 11) the book says, Mr. Tenet and his counterterrorism chief, J. Cofer Black, met with Ms. Rice at the White House to impress upon her the seriousness of the intelligence the agency was collecting about an impending attack. But both men came away from the meeting feeling that Ms. Rice had not taken the warnings seriously.

There you have it - the National Security Advisor ignored the threats that were laid out to her a month before aWol ignored the August 6th PDB with a "you've covered your ass now" dismissal and went back to "clearing brush." But lets be fair to Condi - maybe she was thinking about shoe-shopping. I know I get distant when thinking about Feragamos and Jimmy Choos...Not.
