MO. GOP Slime Tactics

The Talent campaign has shown themselves to be running scared now that Claire has pulled ahead.

They have resorted to slandering a dead woman, who died in a plane crash last Saturday.

Claire McCaskill's compliance director, Melissa Berridge, was one of six people killed when a single-engine plane crashed taking off from the airport in Sullivan, about 70 miles outside St. Louis. Ms. Berridge was a skydiving enthusiast and eagerly awaited her near-weekly jumps.

Ms. Berridge was aboard a DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter owned by Quantum Leap Skydiving of Sullivan. The plane crashed about two minutes after taking off about 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Six people were killed and two critically injured.

To compound the tragedy, the Missouri GOP has taken to slime tactics. The Federal Election Commission did not receive McKaskill's mandatory pre-primary filing by the July 27th deadline, and the FEC has cited the campaign and they could face a fine.

Never mind that the compliance director died tragically, nor that the staff found the paperwork in her office, in order, and according to post office stamps, it was mailed on the 24th, three days early.

Apparently the required paperwork was caught up in the mail and the McCaskill campaign is working with the FEC to solve this problem. Meanwhile, the campaign and Ms. Berridge's family are left to struggle with their tragic loss, and get their minds wrapped around what has happened. One would think that common decency and decorum demanded a moratorium until at least after the funeral.

But not surprizing given the state of the Missouri GOP. This is the party that hooted and made animal noises when a Democratic Senator stood up on the floor to protest last years Medicaid cuts as predatory, like something from a National Geographic special where the predators prey on the weak and infirm.

All of their Mother's and Pastor's were so very proud.
