She Changed the World

With a simple "No." Rosa Parks changed everything. She refused to give up her seat to a man simply because his skin was a different color than hers, and it was the "No" heard round the world.

It was the touchstone of the civil rights movement. It started the Montgomery Bus Boycott and launched a relatively unknown Baptist minister named Martin Luther King, Jr. into the forefront of the movement that would gather steam and change America forever.

Rest in peace Miss Rosa. You have earned your rest.

Update: Rosa Parks body will lie in state in the Capital Rotunda for two days. She is the first woman and the second African American to be accorded this posthumous honor.
