KC does get some weather...

A 40 car pile-up
that included two semis on Interstate 35 in Johnson County
on Wednesday afternoon shut down I-35 northbound
for over an hour and sent 18 people to the hospital,
some with critical injuries.

It's a good day to hunker down and not leave the house. I wouldn't have gone out in this mess even if the professor hadn't emailed that he would not be driving in from Johnson County to teach our Bioethics course. A cornerstone of my Bioethics philosophy involves the preservation of my own bio. I might go so far as the kitchen, to make a quad-shot mocha, but as for sticking my head out the door when it's like this? No way.

In the Northland, a woman lost control of her car and hit a concrete barrier, in an accident that caused a five-car accident. Tragically, the woman who lost control left her vehicle and was struck and killed as she attempted to cross the freeway. People, please, if you must be out in this stuff, and you are involved in an accident, unless you smell smoke or fuel, do not exit your vehicle in a high-traffic area. Wait for help to come to you.
