The Revolution is Coming - Let's Hope it is Electoral

All successful revolutions are the kicking in of a rotten door. ---John Kenneth Galbraith, American Economist 1908-2006

And to quote Bertrand Russell, another great thinker much despised by Publicans, "all movements go to far."

The conservative movement that swept the nation in a frenzy of sanctimony and self-importance in 1994 kicked in a rotten door. I may be a Democrat, but I am not one for revisionist history. And the Republican Revolution was needed. After a four-decade reign in the Peoples House, our party had gotten complacent. We needed that ass-kicking. We needed to get rid of the effete elite that were so entrenched and far-removed from our core values. When we retake the congress, it will be with a sense of humility and we've-learned-our-lesson, or we will not enjoy the mantle of leadership for long.

But didn't the Publicans prove Bertrand Russell correct in spades? They did indeed go to far. They went so far that the door that we are poised to kick in is falling off the hinges, it is so rotten. In twelve short years, the Publicans have grown so bloated with graft and tequilla-drunk on their own power that they thought they were invincible - some still think they are and they can just 'splain this all away. After all, who you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?

It won't be that easy for them, however. The Revolution is nigh, and it is being blogged - no word yet on whether it will get network coverage.

The door that we are poised to kick in is rotten to it's very core. It is the rot of grandiose affect, of hubris and sanctimony, of bloat, corruption and lies. It is the rot of conspiracy and war-making and abrogated liberty. It is the rot of jingoism, ethnocentrism and devalued humanity. It stinks to high heaven.

Change is at hand, my friends, and on November 7th, we can storm the Bastille and take back our country.

I am all for revolution - but I prefer ballots to bullets.
