Really...You can't make this stuff up...

I had heard reference to this over the last couple of days, but figured it was just a rumor, perhaps one that would be worthy of future status as an Urban Legend, but a rumor none the less.

Nope. It's true. Publican Congressman Don Sherwood (PA-10) is running an ad in which he admits to an extramarital affair, but flatly denies that he abused the woman. No kidding. Here is an excerpt from the ad. (If I find it on YouTube or Crooks and Liars I'll post the link. So far no luck - and I really want to see it with my own eyes.)
"While I’m truly sorry for disappointing you, I never wavered from my commitment to reduce taxes, create jobs and bring home our fair share,” Sherwood said, addressing viewers. “Should you forgive me, you can count on me to keep on fighting hard for you and your family.”
Can we just give him an award for shamelessness now, and hope the good people of the PA 10 recognize a smarmy hypocrite when they see one and vote accordingly on November 8th? So long as the Publican party holds itself out as the very model of virtue and goodness, and portrays all Democrat as sexually craven and morally bankrupt, they deserve all the wrath that an angry American public can heap upon them when they are revealed to have feet of clay and sexual peccadillos of their own.

We didn't start this stuff. But since they did, it is just desserts that sexual scandal is their undoing.

Is this finally enough? Can we just decide that I have been right all along about Family Values? I'll say it again. I will value my family, you value your family, and we will leave one another the hell alone on private matters.
