At least Bill Clinton has a thing for adult women - and I am kinda partial to stacked Jewesses - being one and all.
Yesterday the Publican party sold out the Republic for thirty pieces of silver and the right to suspend the 800 year old tradition of Habeus Corpus as the cornerstone of our system of laws.
Someone on the other side of the aisle washed his hands and sealed their fate.
Today, retribution. Perhaps in light of the scandal this is a poor choice of words, but I'm using them anyway - Today they stand naked and exposed before us, their sweater a ball of red-white-and-blue yarn at their feet of clay. And the feeding frenzy has commenced. As they run for cover, they have no qualms about throwing anyone under a bus in their quest for a port to ride out the brewing storm.
Maybe there is a God afterall, and he is punishing the Publican party for all the crap they have pulled in his name of late? The timing is too perfect - I'm choosing to believe in divine retribution. God doesn't hate fags (I never believed that nonsense) God hates Publicans who act one way in private and another way in public and are never sorry for their actions, only that they got caught.
Lets trace the whole sorry spectacle in the order it unfolded, shall we?
First ABC News reported on Thursday that Rep. Foley had written improper and suggestive emails to a 16-year-old congressional page. On Friday, as information came to light, each piece of evidence more damning than the one before it, the representative resigned.
But that did little to stem the tide. The toothpaste was out of the tube, so to speak. As Publican congressmen scrambled for cover in a political panic, these courageous souls did not hesitate to throw their fellows in the path of the oncoming train. It was a veritable schoolyard out there today as they pointed fingers and protested their own complicity.
I spent a lot of time on my grandparents' farm. When this kind of racket came from the chickenhouse, my Grandpa loaded his shotgun.
Soon after Foley resigned, the story broke that Representative Rodney Alexander, (R-LA) had brought the matter to the attention of the new majority leader John Boehner (R-OH). Chairman of the House Page Board, Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) conducted an interview with Foley in 2005, concerning the improper and solicitous emils to the page. The House clerk (also a member of the House Page Board) was also present. Speaker Hastert's office was informed of the interview, but according to GOP leadership sources who spoke to Roll Call, Hastert denied knowing anything. (I chose those words very very carefully.)
Rep. Dale Kildee (D-MI), the only Democrat on the Board, was purposefully excluded from any and all discussions and meetings regarding the pedophillic predillictions of rep. Foley according to Roll Call.
But then, it turns out that Hastert was not in the dark as he had claimed - Majority Leader Boehner told the Washington Post on Friday evening that he had informed Hastert, and been assured that "the matter was being dealt with."
Apparently "the matter is being dealt with" is Publican for "keep your fucking mouth shut, he hasn't been caught yet." Who knew? (Okay, we all suspected - but really, who actually knew?)
This is not over yet - hell, it is just getting started. Soap-opera writers could not have written a more sordid storyline. I mean, this story has it all! Homoerotic email come-ons by a "Contract with America" Publican, written by the house member in charge of stmping out internet sexual predators of children- we can't forget that part - that is the icing on the birthday-cake. We have a leadership that ignored it all because he was sailing toward re-election, and a Page committee who deliberately withheld the information about Foley's fondness for underage boys from the only Democrat on the panel. That is textbook conspiracy, my friends, no doubt about it. the only thing handled in a timely fashion in this whole sordid mess is the fact that Mr. Foley's house.gov website is already down, vanished into the ether. As if he never existed.
After all the crap they have pulled, it is schadenfreude indeed, and I am enjoying it guilt-free.
