Deaths of U.S. Service Personnel Surpass Sept. 11 Death Toll

Now that we have surpassed the horrors of September 11, both in social costs and the lives of troops, can we have some serious reflection on the situation we find ourselves in?

Of the 2,974 Americans who have fallen in battle in the "War on Terra" that aWol is so fond of flogging, over 2600 have fallen in Iraq. Of those maimed and severly wounded, of those who left limbs in the desert - most have suffered that life altering injury in Iraq.

And yet, even aWol has had to admit - Iraq had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks on the United States. Iraq was no threat to us or our way of life. Indeed, Saddam Hussein considered the terrorists of al Qae'da a threat to his own regime and sought to arrest Zarqawi.

2600 dead in an ill-conceived and illegal war. It makes the mind reel and the spirit sag, and it makes me question whether or not we will ever be able to trust our government again.
