Let's Clarify Rush Limbaugh's Legal Situation

Since Limbaugh turned himself and posted a $3000 bond yesterday, the mainstream media has been abuzz that a "settlement has been reached" and that he has paid "$30,000 to reimburse the state for it's investigation."

I call Bullshit.

Limbaugh was indicted on criminal charges. Settlements and reimbursements are from civil law. There are no settlements in criminal cases. In criminal cases they are called plea bargains. And one does not pay a reimbursement - one pays a fine which often is calculated to include payment of restitution.

Swaddling his wrongdoing in the cloak of the less-harsh sounding civil terms makes his malfeasance go down a little easier to the masses, but to those of us in the reality-based community, it smacks of blatant spin, and carries the appearance of the media circling the wagons to protect one of it's own.

"Liberal" media indeed!
