Can we finally admit that Bush and Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz and Cheney succeeded in destabilizing one of the most liberal, least Islamist states in the gulf region and that now that country is mired in civil war?
I have been saying that Iraq is in a state of civil war for several months now. Apparently others are beginning to sign on to my view. Today’s sectarian violence sealed that deal. All it took were two devastating attacks in one day against religious sites between two disparate groups of Muslims, and suddenly I was prescient.
The violence is only going to escalate from here. Taking more American lives and limbs along for the ride. So good job there, fellas. Gotta be honest here – not really impressed with your prosecution of the war guys. You are proving to be punks and pikers, and schmucks with no fucking clue what’s really going on. Fucking bubble boys, every last pedantic, insufferable one of you. Oh if I could only dress you in inadequate body armor and put your punk asses in a hillbilly-armored humvee and let you roll up and down Route Irish. Lets just say that I wouldn’t want to wash those skivvies…
Now I will be prescient again. I know the magic number that will create a groundswell of support from America and demand a withdrawal from Iraq. When 3000 troops have died, and many more have been maimed, that will surpass the death toll of September 11. And people are gradually realizing that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks on America, and this war is bullshit. Not only has it squandered resources, it has undercut the effort in Afghanistan that should be a higher priority. People are waking up now – wait until the number of dead hits three thousand. A groundswell will occur the likes of which this country has not seen in decades.
John McGlaughlin has never asked me for a predicition, but I’ll give that one up anyway.
