"I Love My Country, but I Fear My Government"

Remember that bumper-sticker? I do. I laughed the first time I saw it. The car that boasted it was in Lane County, Oregon. That bumper sticker was accompanied by a couple more: "Gun Control Means Being Able to Hit Your Target" and "Vote No On Everything!"

This was in the days of militias and "sovereign citizens" and black helicopters...Those dark days between Waco and OKC, remember them?

Now I have come around to that persons way of thinking, and it is all thanks to King George. I am concerned about the power-grab that has happened over the last five years. I have friends from college with names like "Baheshta" and "Fatima" and "Nuzhat" who are from places like Syria and Iran and Iraq and Jordan and Qatar and Afghanistan. I have been in contact with them frequently. Have my emails been intercepted? Have my phones been tapped?

My oldest child teaches English as a Second Language in asia and the middle east, a job that takes him out of the country. I have international communications on my phone and internet records. In this day and age, a lot of us do. There is no "Fortress America" and it is a global economy.

How many of you have had any international communications since Bush took office? Think hard...Now, are you cool with an NSA dossier with your name on it? I'm not. I'm upset about it. And if (a vast majorityof) you aren't upset too, I'm afraid we are all screwed.
