The Boy Governor Meets Kansas City

Not a stellar performance, I must say. Matt "The Boy Blunder" Blunt just stumbled through 20 uncomfortable minutes on Steve Kraske's Up To Date on KCUR 89.3 fm. No matter the question he did not vary from his script. His approval rating in the state is 35%, and he just tried to spin two Republican victories in the statehouse as a mandate.

Except he didn't tell the whole story. The Republicans lost a suburban seat that they had held uninterupted for 58 years, by 16 percentage points. And one of those two republican victories? The candidate won by running away from Matt Blunt as fast and as far as he could.

With three years left in his term, our Democratic Attorney General Jay Nixon has already filed with the Ethics Commission to run for the Governors mansion instead of reelection to the AG post.

Maybe the mansion will be nice enough for Mrs. Nixon. Mrs. Blunt certainly turns her nose up at the peoples house. As a result, a six-Suburban convoy of State Troopers and staffers make the daily trek from Springfield to Jefferson City because Mrs. Blunt is more comfortable in the house they bought that no one knows where the money came from.

Then there is the money his daddy filtered to his Secretary of State campaign in 2000. This may drag him into the DeLay fiasco.
