Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester, I Salute You

Follow this link to the VFW home-page to get the entire story. For the first time since WWII a woman has been awarded the Silver Star. It happened nearly two months ago, and I find it newsworthy, but I didn't find out until today, when I got my New York Times this morning.

Sgt. Hester had just the right thing to say about receiving the award: It has nothing to do with her being a female. She earned the award for her actions as a soldier that day. And she should be the example that shuts up the "women-don't belong-in-combat" crowd.
