Everyone is British Today

It is with great sadness that I note that 7/7 enters the cultural lexicon along with 9/11. The barbarous nature of these crimes rock me to the center of my being. And part of me uncomfortably acknowledges that while maybe we did not plant the seeds of our own destruction, we provided water and fertilizer that allowed the tender shoots to grow to mighty trees. And for today, I shall cast off politics. Today, I stand with my British brothers and sisters as they stoically shake off the dust and clear the rubble and resume their lives. My thoughts, and the thoughts of many other Americans are with you. May you find the strength and courage you need to face the days ahead.
