Too many idiots to let 'em pass today...

My goodness we have a wealth of idiots today! Help me pick the golden child, would you?

Contender number one is E.L. Lindahl from Belton, who writes:
Results of Election
Once again the people of Missouri and the country as a whole have proven they want bigger government and higher taxes. Historically this is what happens when Democrats control congress. I hope all of you who voted Democratic enjoy your decreased income.
First of all, does anyone believe this putz is doing so well under the Bush plan? I checked the Forbes list of those who made out, and guess what? E.L. Lindahl wasn’t on it. Second of all, he isn’t just stupid in his ideology, he is wrong. W-R-O-N-G WRONG. The size of government has grownby leaps and bounds under Bush 43. Under that dreaded Clinton, the size of government shrank and efficiency increased.

But Mr. Lindahl has competition so far as our Idiot of the Day race is concerned. Terry J. Wilson of Independence is running neck-and-neck with Lindahl in the stupid sweepstakes.
McCaskill not right choice
Missouri voters, do you realize what you have done?

I am afraid too many of you voted out of your hatred for George Bush and the war. I also dislike the war, but I am concerned where this country is headed.

With people like Claire McCaskill in office, I anticipate higher taxes, an end to the terrorist surveillance program, new legislation against right-to-carry laws, more abortions, more unfriendly programs for farmers and continued opposition to oil exploration in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge and Gulf of Mexico. Also, I fear that gay marriage will soon be protected by legislation.

I am sure many of McCaskills liberal ideas will bloom and grow.

I am most concerned for the effect of socialized tax-eating programs on my children and grandchildren.

Why would anyone want her representing us in Washington? I believe many of you who voted for her will soon regret it.

Now you realize that this fellow must die the death of a thousand cuts, don’t you? He has to be flayed, bit by bit, until his rancid ignorant flesh is all stripped away. There is nothing I enjoy more than gutting a concern troll while they stand by helplessly. So without further ado, let’s get to it, point by point.

Terry Price, we absolutely know what we have done. We have replaced a senator who had more interest in serving K Street than he had with serving his constituents. We fired a senator who voted to suspend Habeus Corpus and legitimize torture, as well as repeal Posse Comitatus and The Insurrection Acts. We voted against Jim Talent and his 94% endorsement of the policies of George Bush, not against George Bush. We voted against a senator who skipped 65 of 95 Senate Armed Services Committee meetings while touting his service on that committee. We knew exactly who we were voting for, and more importantly, we knew precisely who we were voting against. We too believe the country was headed over a cliff and Jim Talent was reading the map for George Bush as he steered us farther and farther off course.

Mr. Price anticipated higher taxes. Funny, I didn’t see a Terry Price of Independence on that Forbes list either. So no, any tax policy enacted by the Democratic congress is not going to hurt you. Get real, stop whining and demand George Brett pay his fair share. Sheesh.

And yes, now that the Democrats are in office, well let’s get those invitations printed! We expect high tea with bin Laden on the Capital Rotunda. We just love his work and can’t wait to fete him to the cognoscenti! NOOOTTT!!!!

Terrorist surveillance is going to go forward, we are just going to conduct investigations under FISA rules and constitutional guidelines. It worked for Clinton when all those terrorists were arrested tried and convicted and now waste away in prison cells, unable to threaten anyone.

I really love how the R3’s (rabid religious right) always throw out that abortion canard. If they actually used the library for something besides an hour of free internet access a day they could easily verify that abortions were way down under Clinton, and by the way, blue states like Massachusetts and Minnesota have a lot lower abortion rates than red states like Alabama and Mississippi.

As to further oil exploration – it’s a band-aid on a severed limb. The real future is in energy alternatives, not in further environmental degradation to extract a little bit of oil that is finite anyway. Look forward, not back.

No good wingnut can raise his voice without sounding the gay marriage alarm, whether it’s in context or not, and Terry Wilson is a first-class wingnut. Also, I fear that gay marriage will soon be protected by legislation.

Oh no!!! If my Uncle Billy could finally make an honest woman out of my Aunt Richard, after 35 years, my 24 year marriage would overnight be null and void!!!

Mr. Wilson goes on to feign interest in the effect of today’s reckless spending (by Republicans, don’t forget) on his children and grandchildren.

Hey, me too, Terry Wilson, but that is going to mean we have to pay some taxes. You do realize this do you not? George Bush’s war is costing just over $3000 per second. Every child born draws their first breath $30,000 in debt due to a birth tax because the Publicans do not believe in “pay as you go” governance.

Let me make it clear – I have no problem with true conservatives. But rabid, hateful wingers, the ones who have bought the Limbaugh/Brownshirt “30% of America is my enemy and means me harm”? They frighten me, and I think these two are hitting the kool-aid pretty damned heavy.

They are the kind of lockstep ideologues who will pledge blind fealty at your expense and mine, and they are the ones to be feared.

The majority of America has spoken. There are by nature some who will not be receptive to the message Americans sent, but that is just too damned bad. We had to suck it up when the R3’s were running amok. Now they have to deal with governance by grown-ups.
